Journal of Basrah Researches,A 41 (1) ,130-144 (2015 )Kawkab Ali Hussain,Dawood Salim Abid and Georgius A Adam New Method for synthesis of hydroxyurea and its polymer supported derivatives as new controlled release drugs New synthetic method for hydroxyurea the common anticancer drug known “hydroxyurea” was achieved from biuret .The prepared hydroxyurea was combined with carboxymethyl cellulose, pectin ,pectic acid, poly(vinyl alcohol) and tetramethyl urea. The obtained polymer supported anticancer drugs, were characterized and evaluated in vitro as controlled release drugs.The obtained data showed that the evaluated polymers supported drugs have sustained release characteristics.
